Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent the scattering of particles of the hydrogen storing metal and to improve the heat exchanging efficiency of the heat exchanger by a method wherein a heat exchange section having a ventilative outer wall is provided within a pressure resistant hydrogen gas retaining shell and the particle of the hydrogen storing metal are applied around a heat exchange pipe in the heat exchange section through a lagging material.
CONSTITUTION: The heat exchange section 2 is disposed within the hydrogen gas retaining pressure resistant shell 1, and a hydrogen gas flow pipe joint 19 is attached to the pressure resistant shell 1 so as to supply and discharge the hydrogen gas into, and from, the pipe joint 19. The heat exchange section 2 comprises a ventilative vessel 21 of high strength, the lagging material 22 disposed within the vessel 21, heat exchange pipe 24a and 24b which communicate with heat exchanging fluid pipes 33 and 34 arranged outside the vessel 21 and the hydrogen storing metallic particles 25. With the above arrangement, reversible reactions take place within the ventilative heat exchanger between the hydrogen gas and the hydrogen storing metallic particles so that the scattering of the hydrogen storing metallic particles is prevented, the strength of the structure of the heat exchanger can be increased and the heat exchanging efficiency thereof can be improved.
