Abstract
PURPOSE: To produce phosphoric acid sediment of easily separated metal, by adding iron salt and peroxide and/or persulfide to dissolved phosphoric acid in a liquid.
CONSTITUTION: Simultaneously with the addition of a prescribed amount of iron salt into a liquid containing phosphoric acid or at another time, a peroxide and/or persulfide compound is added. Adding iron salt by more than an equivalent to the content of phosphoric acid hydrolyzes and dehydrates excessive iron salt in the presence of an added strong oxidizing agent to obtain heavy and easily separated composite sediment containing phosphoric acid. Specially, ferrous salt is used favorably as iron salt. Further, alkali earth metal salt, such as CaCl2 and MgCl2, and oxide and hydroxide of alkali earth metal, such as CaO and Mg(OH)2, may be added in combination.
