Abstract

PURPOSE: To simplify the apparatus and to enable concentration and dehydration of large capacity and high degree by installing a heavy liquid discharging device to a centrifugal separator for liquid using compressed air as a medium.
CONSTITUTION: The liquid to be separated is fed into a bowl 8' from a liquid feed tube of a centrifugal separator. The liquid is separated into light liqud and heavy liquid by centrifugal force of a separating column 2 rotating at high speed and action of separating plates 4. The light liquid passes through a ring shaped passage 6 between the separating column 2 and a partition cylinder 5 and overflows from an opening at the upper end as shown by the arrow. The heavy liquid is collected in the large diameter part 8 aong a conical broadened part 5' of the partition cylinder 5 and a conical face of the bowl 8' and settles in radial direction thward outside. At this part, it is sucked through a gap (g) by a jet pump system using air current jetted from an air jetting hole 11'. After becoming low specific gravity due to accompanying current, agitation and generation of bubbles, it goes up along a conical heavy liquid passage 9 and taken out to outside from an opening at the upper end as shown by the arrow.
