Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare the titled composition having high rate of eluation of the active component, by dispersing a water-soluble drug having bitter taste together with a water-swellable high polymer in molten waxy substance, and solidifying the dispersion.
CONSTITUTION: A water-soluble drug having bitter taste (e.g. talampicillin hydrochloride, indenolol hydrochloride, etc.) is dispersed together with a water-swellable polymer (e.g. L-hydroxypropylcellulose, carboxymethylcellulose, etc.) in a molten waxy substance (e.g. carnauba wax, beeswax, hardened oil, etc.), and solidified to obtain a pharmaceutical preparation composition free from bitter taste. The amount of the waxy substance is pref. ≥3 pts.wt. per 1 pt.wt. of the drug, and that of the polymer is pref. 0.05W0.3pt.wt.per 1pt.wt. of the waxy substance. It may be incorporated with a diluent such as lactose, and optionally with a colorant, perfume, etc., and powdered or granulated.
