Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the cross polarized wave component which is caused by a main reflector, by using a dielectric lens to an offset antenna to be used for a microwave or the like and thus ensure a certain length of an optical path from a radiator to a plane of an antenna aperture. CONSTITUTION:An electric wave lens 3 made of the dielectric substance is put between a main reflector 1 of an offset-type parabola antenna and a primary radiator 2. Surfaces S1 and S2 of a micropart 4 of the lens 3 are formed as a part of the rotary hyperboloid with axes z1 and z2 which are parallel to each other and with focal distances f1 and f2 plus focuses F1 and F2 respectively. The length becomes constant for an optical path from the focus F1 of an electric wave that travels with refraction after made incident to the lens 3 to the surface on radius R of the focus F2. Thus the spherical wave radiation line led from F1 is converted into the spherical wave radiation line of F2 through the lens 3. As a result, the cross polarized wave component caused by the reflector 1 can be reduced without losing the characteristics of an offset-type parabola antenna.
