Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate the unbalance between out-seek and in-seek operations as to any cylinder, by switching voltage values for correcting external force according to a carriage position when moving a magnetic head to a required track. CONSTITUTION:The position of a carriage 1 mounting a magnetic head is detected by a position detecting circuit 2, whose output is differentiated 3 to obtain the output of a speed signal generating circuit 4. Under the command of a host device, the output of a speed reference signal generating circuit 5 is applied to a summing amplifier 6 and its difference output from the output of the circuit 4 is supplied to a power amplifier 7, whose output is supplied to an electromagnetic coil 8 moving the carriage 1 and also current-detected 9 to be applied to the circuit 4. On the basis of information from the host device, a current-cylinder detecting circuit 12 supplies information on the position of the magnetic head to an inner/outer-circumference discriminating circuit 13 to discriminate whether a specific cylinder at an intermediate part is at the inner circumference or outer circumference. With the output of the circuit 13, an external correction voltage is outputted to a correcting circuit 10 or 11 by being switched. Thus, the carriage 1 is moved stably.
