PURPOSE:To enable automatic program searching operation, etc., by providing a means for generating a compensation signal for cancelling an intermusic signal detected at a quick reversing point in response to a quick-reversing-point detection signal. CONSTITUTION:A quick-reversing-point detecting means B consists of a light emitting diode 1, a light emitting diode 2, an amplifier 3, and a waveform shaping circuit 4, and its detection output is supplied to a control circuit 11. An intermusic signal detecting means C consists of an intermusic detecting circuit 7 connected to a magnetic head 12, a differentiating circuit 9, and a monostable multivibrator circuit 10, and its detection output is supplied to the control circuit 11. A compensation signal generating means D consists of a differentiating circuit 5, a monostable multivibrator circuit 6, and an OR circuit 8, and the output of the monostable multivibrator circuit 6 and that of the intermusic detecting circuit 7 are supplied to said OR circuit, whose output terminal is connected to the differentiating circuit 9. In response to the detection output from the intermusic signal detecting means C, the control circuit 11 performs prescribed automatic program searching operation, etc.
