Abstract

PURPOSE:To prepare L-tryptophan, in high yield, by culturing a bacterial strain belonging to Bacillus genus and containing a vector integrated with the gene fragment participating in tryptophan antagonist resistance. CONSTITUTION:Bacterial strain belonging to Bacillus genus, capable of producing L-tryptophan, and containing a vector obtained from the chromosome of a mutant of Bacillus genus resistant to tryptophan antagonist and integrated with the gene fragment participating in the tryptophan antagonist resistance, e.g. AJ 11688 (FERM-P No.6024), is inoculated in a nutrient medium and cultured under aerobic conditions. L-tryptophan is separated from the cultured liquid.
