Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain sufficient printing density by setting voltages in such a way as to have the value sufficient for inducing electric discharge in the micro spacing between a recording medium and a recording electrode and to discharge no electricity when it is applied to only one of the electrodes. CONSTITUTION:When, for example, a positive voltage is applied to a counter electrode 7, a negative signal voltage of the polarity reversed from that electrode is applied to a recording electrode stylus 2. These voltages are so set that the sum of the voltage applied to the stylus 2 and the voltage applied to the electrode 7 is the value sufficient for generating electric discharge in a micro clearance D but no electric discharge is generated with the voltage of only one of the stylus 2 and the electrode 7. If such a voltage system is incorporated, good recording is accomplished only when the voltages of mutually reversed polarities are applied to the stylus 2 and the electrode 7, and no toners are attracted despite the application of the voltage upon only one of these. It is therefore possible to obtain sufficiently sharp printing density.
