Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a solution-reinforced hard alloy of improved resistances to heat, abrasion and corrosion for cutting and abrasion resistant tools by solutionizing high m.p. metals in the bond phase consisting essentially of Ni in a sintered hard alloy or thermet.
CONSTITUTION: This alloy consists of 70W98wt% (hereinafter the same) % a hard phase consisting of ≥1 kind of carbide, nitride and carbonitride of 4a, 5a and 6a group metals, and 2W30% a bond phase. This bond phase contains ≥1 kind of 0.2W35 W, 0.1W5% V, 0.1W7% Ti, 0.1W2% Ta, 0.1W2% Nb, 0.05W1.5% Zr, 0.05W1.5% Hf, and if necessary ≥1 kind of 1W40% Co, 1W15% Mo, 1W15% Cr, 1W5% Fe, 1W5% Cu, and the balance Ni and impurities contg. The addition of these high m.p. metals contributes to the wettability with the hard- phase, the suppression of the thickness of the intermediate layer formed in the hard phase and the improvement in corrosion and oxidation resistances.
