Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase the efficiency of a switching regulator, by switching a relay contact when the DC input voltage which is applied to a constant voltage diode reaches a prescribed level and then applying the DC output voltage to the constant voltage diode. CONSTITUTION:The contacts 8a and 8b close and open respectively when no current flows to a relay winding 8C. The input DC voltage Vin is supplied to a constant voltage diode 7, and the constant voltage (v) is supplied in the form of an auxiliary power supply to a switch control circuit in a main circuit 3. Then the output voltage Vout is generated by the circuit 3. The fact that the voltage Vout reached a prescribed level is detected by a voltage monitor circuit 9, and the circuit 9 works to supply the current to the winding 8C. Thus the contacts 8a and 8b open and close respectively, and the voltage supplied to the diode 7 is changed to Vout from Vin. Then the voltage (v) is supplied to the switch control circuit of the circuit 3 as an auxiliary power supply. In this case, no current flows to a resistance 6 to reduce the power consumption.
