PURPOSE:To prevent a trouble of a glow plug which is used auxiliarily for the starting of a Diesel engine, by measuring the applied voltage during the after- glow of the glow plug and discontinuing the conduction to the plug when the applied voltage reaches the set value. CONSTITUTION:A temperature controller 1 of a glow plug G contains the following component parts: a quick temperature raising relayIfor preheating of the plug G; a conduction relay II which maintains the temperature after the preheating; a timer T1 which turns on the relayIfor a certain period when an operator applies a switch A to a GL terminal; a pulse generator T2 which performs the switching control of the relayIwhen the switch A is connected to the St terminal; a comparator 8 which supplies the voltage of the power supply terminal D to compare it with the set value and holds a prescribed output; a gate circuit 4 which inhibits the ON signal of the relayI; a logical circuit 7 which decides the after-glow conditions after an engine started; and others. In such constitution, the conduction to the relay II is discontinued when the applied voltage is higher than the set value in the after-glow mode. Thus the plug G can be protected.
