Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve developed color density and sticking resistance by a recording medium wherein sulfate and/or sulfonate surface active agents are used as dispersing agents in a color forming layer which contains a colorless or light-colored leuco dye and an electron acceptor. CONSTITUTION:Sulfate and/or sulfonate surface active agents such as salts of higher alcohol sulfate or alkyl-sulfonate are added to a coating composition which contains a colorless or light-colored leuco dye, an electron acceptor such as an inorganic acid substance or an organic acid for developing color from those dyes by heating, a binding agent consisting of a water-soluble polymer, etc. Taking into account possible corrosion of a thermo-sensitive head, the surface active agents are preferably used in the form of an ammonium salt. An addition amount is set about 1-20wt% with respect to a dispersed composition. Water-soluble polymers such as cellulose or startch may be used in combination with these surface active agents.
