Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent ink from adhering to non picture line part of a printing plate surface in a copperplate printing plate cylinder without dampening water by controlling the temperature of the plate surface of the printing plate at a temperature lower than the temperature of the ink supplied to the plate surface. CONSTITUTION:A coolant reservoir 35 of a cylindrical cavity having an inner diameter di coaxial with a plate cylinder 11 is provided in the cylinder 11, and the reservoir 35 is connected to the outer peripheral rim 36 of the cylinder 11 via a plurality of ribs 37 radially arranged at an equal interval. Through holes 38 are opened along the center of an axis of a rotational shaft 15 of the cylinder 11, coolant guide tubes 39 are inserted into the holes, are connected to an annular passage between the holes 38 and the tubes 39 via a coolant feeding tube 42 and a coolant drain tube 43, coolant maintained at the set temperature is fed to the reservoir 35, and is controlled so that the temperature of the cylinder becomes a temperature lower by 1-10 deg.C than the ink temperature.
