Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an electromagnetic steel sheet having a magnetic property and an insulating property under a stable condition, while raising an iron loss- improving effect, by forming a tension film on one surface of the electromagnetic steel sheet, irradiating laser beams to the other surface, and then coating the other surface with an insulating film at a proper temperature. CONSTITUTION:A tension film is formed on only one surface of an electromagnetic steel sheet in a proper manner. Laser beams are then irradiated to the other surface to form laser-irradiated marks. An insulating film is applied to the laser-irradiated surface in a temperature range not to eliminate the laser-irradiating effect, e.g. under the condition that the temperature of the sheet is held below 600 deg.C. According to this method, an iron loss-improving effect is obtained by the conjunct effect of the tension film and the laser irradiation, and the electromagnetic steel sheet, excellent in its insulating property, voltage-withstanding property, corrosion-resistace, adhesiveness and space factor ratio, is obtained.
