Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a long-lived dry tye developer capable of charging a toner uniformly and sufficiently to a negative polarity, by combining a carrier coated on the surface by a specified silicone resin with a toner containing a metallic complex salt type monoazo dye soluble in an organic solvent. CONSTITUTION:A silicone resin film is formed by adding a toluene or the like solution of a silicon resin of a baking type or a room temperature curable type represented by the formulaI(in which R is H, halogen, hydroxy, methoxy, 1-4C lower alkyl, or phenyl) to a carrier of iron powder or the like by the fluidization method or the like. On the other hand, a toner is prepared by adding a metallic complex type monoazo dye represented by the formula II and carbon black, etc. to polystyrene or its copolymer. A developer obtained by combining said carrier with said toner does not become ''spent'', that is, does not cause deterioration of chargeability due to attachment of the toner resin to the surface of the carrier and formation of a film, after long-term uses, and has high durability.
