Abstract
PURPOSE:To identify the discharge condition quantitatively and precisely by applying a high voltage pulse charged in a condenser to a work gap, comparing the gap voltage with a multitude of reference voltages, and detecting an abrupt descent of the gap voltage. CONSTITUTION:A high voltage pulse from a pulse power source 1 is charged in a condenser 2, and is further applied between an electrode 3 and a work 4 for performing the discharge work. The work gap voltage is divided by means of resistors, and is detected as a voltage E0. Non-discharge condition detection pulse is output and integrated in a condenser 31 when the gap voltage E0 is higher than a reference voltage E1, and when the voltage E0 is higher than a voltage E2 but no discharge occurs (between CL1 and CL3). A normal discharge is detected by an abrupt descent of the voltage E0 from the condition of E0> E2, and a detection pulse is integrated in a condenser 32. An abnormal arc discharge V4 and a short circuit CL7 are detected by comparing the voltage E0 with the voltage E4, and are integrated in condensers 33, 34 respectively.
