Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a superhigh tensile steel having high yield stress, high tensile strength and superior toughness at low temp. and capable of being tempered at high temp. by adding specified amounts of C, Ni, Cr, Mo and V and restricting the contents of Cu, Si, Mn and Al.
CONSTITUTION: This superhigh tensile steel consists of, by weight, 0.07W0.25% C, 9.6W13% Ni, 0.1W2.4% Cr, 0.1W5% Mo, ≤2% Cu, ≤1% Si, ≤2% Mn, 0.03W 0.2% V, ≤1% Al and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities while satisfying 12W16% f value represented by the equation with respect to C, Ni, Cr, Mo and Cu. This steel has ≥110kg.f/mm2 yield stress, ≥120kg.f/mm2 tensile strength and ≥10kg.m2mmV notch absorption energy at -70°C even after tempering at high temp. It is manufactured at a relatively low cost without requiring a special apparatus.
