Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain metals with heat sources of inexpensive reducing agents and preheating air without agglomeration of ore in the state of melting and reducing titled prereduced powdery ore by conducting the gas produced in a vertical reducing furnace into which a C type solid reducing agent and a high temp. gas contg. O2 are supplied to a prereducing furnace. CONSTITUTION:Powdery ore is supplied from a device 6 to a prereducing furnace 7 and the ore is fluidized, dried and heated by part or the whole of the high temp. reducing gas from a vertical reducing furnace 3, whereby it is reduced to the required extent. This product is supplied together with fluxes from a device 10 to the furnace 3 through >=1 of devices 12-14. The gas produced in the furnace 3 is used for conveying these to the devices 13, 14. On the other hand, the products such as powdery coke and char produced by the treatment of powdery coal, etc. in a pretreating furnace 2 are supplied through >=1 supplying devices 18-20 for C type solid reducing agents with the gas produced in the furnace 3 from a device 16 to the furnace 3. These are burned by the O2-contg. high temp. gas blown through tuyeres 21 into the furnace 3 or are reduced by contacting the metallic oxides in the products of a furnace 7, whereby metals are formed. The molten metal is removed through a device 23.
