Abstract

PURPOSE:To make a multiple stages cluster rolling mill usable for both cold rolling and skin pass rolling by providing a driving changeover means to a driving power transmission mechanism for driven rolls in the case of subjecting steel plates to skin pass rolling with the multiple stages cluster cold rolling mill. CONSTITUTION:In a multiple stages cluster rolling mill constituted of upper, lower work rolls 1a, 1b upper, lower driven rolls 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d and upper, lower backup rolls 3a-3d and 3e-3h, press-down force are transmitted with upper, lower descending cylinders 5T, 5B, and four driving rolls 2a-2d are driven and rotated to revolve the rolls 1a, 1b by friction forces, whereby a steel plate 6 is cold rolled. When such rolling mill is going to be used for skin pass rolling of various steel plates, one or both of the respective two rolls of two sets of the rolls 2a-2d are disconnected from the driving force transmission mechanism and are not driven, by which the skin pass rolling of the steel plates is accomplished normally.
