Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable supply of secondary air into an exhaust pipe by providing an air inlet pipe equipped with a check valve which connects the air intake passage to the upstream side of the exhaust passage. CONSTITUTION:A branch pipe 8, which diverges froem an air intake pipe 5 connecting a discharge port of a compressor of an exhaust turbosupercharger 6 to surge tank 4, is connected to an upstream side of an exhaust pipe 11 via a lead valve 9 and an air inlet pipe 10. Since compressed air discharged from the supercharger 6, that is, secondary air pressure is higher than average pressure of exhaust gas, it is supplied into an exhaust passage and serves for combustion and exclusion of harmful and inflammable ingredient in exhaust gas.
