Abstract
PURPOSE:To effectively decrease stress concentrated to the connection area between a crank pin and crank arm, by smoothly forming an angular part of the peripheral surface of the crank pin and molded hollow part through machining work after casting. CONSTITUTION:In the connection areas between a crank pin 2 and crank arm 3, a hollowed part 5, for decreasing concentration of stress, is formed by casting in a surface of the arm 3 approximated to the pin 2 in the vicinity of the rotary center of a crankshaft. And then an angular part A of the peripheral surface of the crank pin 2 and the hollowed part 5 is crushed by machining through abrasive work of shot peening, sand blast, etc., and the pin surface and the hollowed part 5 are smoothly formed and successively connected to grind the peripheral surface of the crank pin 2. In this way, stress in the connection area can be dispersed as shown by (a).
