Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce a detecting space and not to be influenced by a noise from the peripheral part, by constituting a detecting part so that a light emitting optical fiber end, and installing a light emitting part and a photodetecting part apart from the detecting part. CONSTITUTION:A light emitting optical fiber 16 and a photodetecting optical fiber 19, which constitute a detecting part 21 are supported by a supporting member 22, and hole a constant inteval DELTAl so as to pinch copying paper 2. A light beam emitted from an illuminating unit 15 is made incident to each light emitting optical fiber 16, and is let to a photodetecting element 18 from the photodetecting optical fiber 19 through the detecting part 21. In this case, when the copying paper 2 is passing through the detecting part 21, a light beam is intercepted by the copying paper 2 and does not reach the photodetecting element 18, therefore, a state of the copying paper can be detected from whether a light beam has been detected or not in the photodetecting element, and also its variation.
