Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a damping property from fluctuating due to the change in the temperature of oil, by connecting the electromagnetic coil of a solenoid unit to a resistor whose resistance changes in response to the temperature of oil to control the opening pressure for a damping valve according to the attractive force of the solenoid unit. CONSTITUTION:When a solenoid unit 18 is excited, an expansion-side damping valve 20 for closing a valve seat 22 is pulled on the attracting end 24 of a piston 2 to increase the thrust on the valve seat to change the damping force. A negative resistance element 50 is mounted in the vicinity of the solenoid unit 18 so that the element faces a valve hole 21. The negative resistance element 50 is connected in series with the coil 17 of the solenoid unit 18. Even if the viscosity of working oil drops due to the rise in its temperature, the damping force is prevented from falling but is kept constant because the resistance of the element 50 decreases to augment the electrical current of the coil 17 to heighten the opening pressure for the valve 20.
