Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a variable attenuating circuit which generates a distortion- free output by cascading a variable attenuator which divides the voltage of an input audio signal by a resistance and the emitter-collector resistance of a transistor (TR), and inserting an amplifying circuit having a -1 grain. CONSTITUTION:An input audio signal is inputted to an attenuating circuit A1 and then supplied to an attenuating circuit A2 through an amplifying circuit 9 having a -1 gain, outputting a signal whose attenuation amount is varied. The signal inputted to the circuit A1 is connected to the collector of a TR8 through a capacitor 5 for DC component removal and a series resistance 7, and its voltage division output is led out through a capacitor 6 for DC component removal. Further, the characteristics of the circuit A2 are set equal to those of the circuit A1. The mitter-collector resistances of TRs 8 and 13 are varied by controlling their base currents by a control signal. Thus, the output of the circuit A1 is inverted and inputted to the circuit A2 to obtain a distortion-free output without reference to the polarity of the input signal.
