Abstract

PURPOSE:To adjust the groove between the existing pipe and a new pipe to be exchanged and to shorten the time required for the exchange, by shifting the pipe vertically and horizontally by means of various types of cylinders provided to a clamp vice when the repairs is given to an exisiting pipe having a large diameter. CONSTITUTION:An existing pipe 9 is clamped by a clamp vice 7 by operating a cylinder 1 provided at the upper part of the vice 7. At the same time, a cylinder 2 provided at the upper part of a clamp vice 8 is operated to clamp a new pipe 10 to be exchanged by the vice 8. Then a cylinder 5 is operated to adjust the gap between the pipes 9 and 10 at zero by means of the vice 8. Both cylinders 3 and 4 are operated to adjust the vice 8. Thus the groove positions are adjusted vertically and horizontally for the butting part.
