Abstract

PURPOSE:To maintain the temperature of a cylinder wall at the optimum level by feedback-controlling the operation of a cooling-regulation device to regulate the capacity of an engine cooling system by means of a control circuit to receive signals correlate to the temperature of the cylinder wall. CONSTITUTION:Into a cooling water jacket 3 of an engine main body 1, cooling water cooled by a radiator 4 is supplied by a cooling water pump 7 via a cooling water passage 5. A raidator bypass passage 5a is provided in the cooling water jacket 3, while a flow control valve 10 with a valve body 13 is provided at the exit of the cooling jacket 3. A solenoid valve 15 controls the negative pressure from a suction manifold 8 to introduce into and intercept from a negative pressure chamber 18 of the flow control valve 10, and is controlled by a control circuit 30 for opening and closing. The control circuit 30 receives inputs of a water temperature sensor 31, a temperature sensor 32, a load, a rotational speed, and others, and controls the operation of the flow control valve 10 by feedback on the basis of temperature.
