Abstract

PURPOSE:To produce a porous and amorphous metallic tape having many pores by blowing a gas into molten metal to agitate the same vigorously and to disperse the gas as fine foam and supplying the molten metal to a cooling roll which revolves at a high speed. CONSTITUTION:Molten metal 2 is put in a curcible 4 provided with heaters 3, and is dropped through a nozzle 5 onto a cooling roll 1 which revolves at a high speed, whereby it is quickly cooled and an amorphous metallic tape 9 is produced continuously. At this time, nitrogen, air or other gas is blown through a bas blowing pipe 6 into the metal 2 to form foam P, and further ultrasonic oscillations are applied to the molten metal with a high frequency oscillator 7 mounted to the nozzle 5, whereby the foam P is fined. In this state, the molten metal is injected onto the roll 1 through the nozzle 5 by the pressurizing gas through a gas introduction pipe 8, whereby it is cooled and the porous and amorphous metallic tape 9 having many pores is produced.
