Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve an engine with respect to the output performance, the driving properties and the fuel cost, by calculating an air-fuel ratio through the pressure in an engine combustion chamber, comparing it with an aimed air- fuel ratio, and feedback controlling the supply amount of the fuel so that there is no difference between them. CONSTITUTION:The outputs of a pressure sensor 24 for detecting the pressure in the engine combustion chamber 22 and a crank angle sensor 30 are received by a controlling circuit 33 that calculates an air-fuel ratio. The controlling circuit 33 compares it with an aimed air-fuel ratio previously determined in accordance with the condition of the operation of the engine, and actuates an actuator 32 so that there is no difference between them to perform feedback control of the supply amount of the fuel. Thus, the air-fuel ratio is controlled in an optimum manner in accordance with the conditions of the operation of the engine, the engine is improved in the output performance, the stability, the working properties and the fuel cost, and further the emission of exhaust gas can be decreased.
