Abstract
PURPOSE:To perform the highly reliable detection of a liquid-level by arranging an ultrasonic transducer and a reflecting plate inside of a measuring container to detect echo time. CONSTITUTION:A liquid 3 is accomodated by a measuring container. The space on the liquid 3 is filled with a gas 2. An ultrasonic transducer 5 and a reflecting plate 6 are attached to a supporting frame 4 at a fixed interval. A timing control unit 11 is actuated to change over a switch 20 to the oscillation side while the transmitting unit 12 is started. From the ultrasonic transducer 5 an ultrasonic pulse is emitted, and an echo reflected from the reflecting plate 6 is detected by the ultrasonic transducer 5. Said signal is put in through the switch 20 changed over by the signal from the timing control unit 11 to the reception signal decision unit 13 and the time is measured until the echo signal reaches the fixed threshold value to permit a decision as to whether or not the liquid is on the measured level. As the direct measuring method is applied, the highly reliable liquid-level detection is performed.
