Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the cost of auxiliary materials and energy considerably through titled refining in the stage of subjecting molten iron of low Si to de-P and de-C refining with an oxygen steel making furnace, by supplying granular carbonaceous materials by gravity falling and adding limestone as a de-P agent. CONSTITUTION:Molten iron is pretreated to accelerate only the de-Si reaction beforehand, and the resultant molten iron of low Si is subjected to de-P and de-C refining with an oxygen steel making furnace. In this case granular carbonaceous materials are added from above by utilizing energy of gravity falling into said furnace, and the quicklime to be added as a de-P agent is substituted with limestone in refining the molten iron. According to this method, a smaller amt. of the de-P agent to be fed is required and slag volume is reduced drastically, and this results in that the molten iron receives slag minimum refining. In this method, the cost of auxiliary materials is much reduced and energy is saved considerably.
