Abstract

PURPOSE:To permit the continuation of dredging operation even when the suction nozzle of a dredger is buried by providing a slit-like water suction port from the neighborhood of the sludge suction port of the nozzle pipe to the basal portion of the nozzle in the suction nozzle by which sandy sludge is sucked and removed by a sand pump. CONSTITUTION:When actuating a sand pump under the condition that a suction nozzle 5 is completely buried in sandy sludge 7, fresh water is taken through a filter 10 hung down and held by a float 9 and then sent in the form of water jet into a nozzle pipe 5a through a water hose 11, a water conduit, and a water suction port 5c. At this time, sandy sludge (a) closing the sludge suction port 5b is sucked by the water jet and made into a conical dredge flow along with sandy sludges (b), (c), (d), and (e) while being subjected to repeated suction and falling cycles in near the sludge suction port.
