Abstract

PURPOSE:To raise the volumetric efficiency of a screw compressor by providing shaft sealing means at portions of a rotor where shafts are journaled. CONSTITUTION:Lubricating liquid supplied to grooves 34, 35 respectivly of shaft sealing means 32, 33 effects shaft sealing and sealing at the portions where shafts 11, 12 are extended through an end plate 4. Since a gas compressed to a high pressure is filled in the section of a work space near the end plate 4, a small amount of this high-pressure gas is mixed into lubricating liquid that is leaked into stepped holes 5, 6. Bearings 15, 16 are lubricated by the lubricating liquid mixed with a small amount of high-pressure gas, but the luricating liquid and high-pressure gas mixed into the lubricating liquid are separated from each other in a separation chamber 41 by the function of gravity. Here, if a recovering passage 42 is communicated to the work space when pressure in the work space is lower than that in the separation chamber 41, the gas in the chamber 41 is drawn into the work space and compressed again.
