Abstract
PURPOSE:To produce an electric contact point having uniform structure and high contact stability at a low cost by pressure-molding carbon powder particles having coatings of silver or silver alloys then sintering the same. CONSTITUTION:The powder consisting of silver-carbon particles wherein the entire surface of carbon particles of about 10mu diameters is coated with silver layers of about 2.5mu thickness is pressure-molded to a circular cylindrical shape, thence the molding is sintered by heating at about 800 deg.C in gaseous N2 flow, and further this sintered body is sized, whereby an electric contact point is produced. The internal structure of the electric contact point obtd. in this way is the uniform structure free from segregation wherein the carbon particles are dispersed independently and uniformly in the matrix of silver and therefore, the occurrence of local consumption is obviated and the contact stability is good.
