Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve workability and space factor by forming a cylindrical iron core composed of many magnetic segmental pieces of wedge-shaped cross-section arranged in a circle which are welded together. CONSTITUTION:Magnetic segmental pieces 5 of wedge-shaped cross-section are put together in a circle so as to form a cylinder having a through hole 7 at its center. All magnetic segmental pieces are welded together at their inner upper and lower corners 6. Therefore, lines of magnetic induction can easily be through the center axis of the through hole and also at right angle to the center axis and, in addition, magnetic reluctance to alternating field in any direction can be reduced to a mimimum. Moreover, this construction facilitates machining for diameters and lengths of the work, and when a coil is wound on this iron core, the iron core and winding can concentrically be assembled with almost no gaps so that average length of coiled wires to a certain sectional area of an iron core an be mimimized so as to minimize a required amount of copper.
