Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a contact material free from Cd and preventing exfoliation from the base material under a heat cycle by dispersing Sn, In, Mn and Zn oxides in Ag together with Sb oxide and further dispersing Pb oxide and/or Se oxide.
CONSTITUTION: This material contains, by weight as metal, 0.1W6.2% Sb oxide, 0.05W5.0% Sn, In, Mn and Zn oxides and 0.01W2.0% Pb oxide and/or Se oxide dispersed in Ag as the principal component. In the Ag 0.01W1.0% Ni oxide and/ or Fe oxide may be dispersed furthermore. By dispersing Sn, In, Mn and Zn oxides in addition to Sb oxide, the behavior is made much closer to the behavior of the synthetic vapor pressure of CdO, and superior contact characteristics are shown by the synergistic effect. By further dispersing oxides of Pb, Se, etc., said oxides are uniformly dispersed in the Ag matrix when they appear lamellarly in the matrix. Thus, this material shows an action of absorbing expansion, shrinkage and a heat strain produced under a heat cycle of high and room temps. in various parts, and the exfoliation and dissipation of a contact can be prevented.
