Abstract
PURPOSE:To position a stepper motor at a high accuracy by performing a normal step turning control at the open loop drive control while an exciting force control is performed according to errors at the closed loop drive control. CONSTITUTION:A stepper motor 101 is controlled by a step pulse STP, a rotary direction indicating signal DCP and an action mode designation signal DMS given to a control driving circuit 104. When the signal DMS is in the open loop mode, based on the pulse STP, the stepper motor 101 steps by a fixed angle. When the signal DMs is in the closed loop mode, the detection output DP of a position detector 103 of a body to be driven 102, the balance is changed in the currents separately flowing through the windings of the first, second and third phases of the stepper motor 101 to finely adjust the position of the body 102. This can improve the positioning accuracy.
