Abstract
PURPOSE:To lessen the scatter of electric discharge energy, by an electric source for wire cut electric discharge machining, the apparatus being provided with means for judging the state of a gap between an electrode and a work thereby controlling a pause period of an electric discharge. CONSTITUTION:A sub-switch circuit S1 having a small supply capacity of a peak electric current during electric discharge and a main switching circuit S2 consisting of transistors Tr2, Tr3 having a large supply capacity of a peak electric current are provided, and arranged in parallel with electric sources V1, V2, electric current restricting resistors R1, R2... to give discharge voltages E1, E2 and electric currents. The opening and closing of the switching circuits S1, S2 is controlled by a control section 24, and an oscillator for driving to open or close the sub-switching circuit S1, an electrode gap state discriminating circuit 26, a pause period setting circuit 28 and a close time setting circuit 30 for the main switching circuit S2 are provided.
