Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a vehicle from inadvertent starting in such a way that electric contacts are respectively installed on engaging faces on the position plate of an automatic speed change gear and on a pin which is engaged on said engaging faces so as to electrically detect the control position of a control lever of the automatic speed change gear. CONSTITUTION:A control lever 4 depresses a push button 9 at its upper part, and a rod 5 is slid down through an incline 6 so that a pin 13 at the lower end of the rod 5 can be disengaged from an engaging face 16 for the selected positioning which has been installed on a position plate 14, and speed change position can be selected. In this case, electric contacts 33, 34 are provided on engaging faces 18, 20 which are placed opposite to parking and neutral positions P, N in the engaging face 16. On another hand, the pin 13 is formed as an electric contact 36 at the point which can be brought into contact with the engaging face 16, and a detection switch 43 is assembled by said contacts 33, 34. The contacts 33, 34 are coupled to a starter motor 35 by means of the detection switch 43, and the contact 36 is coupled to the side of a battery 37 in order to constitute a safety circuit.
