Abstract

PURPOSE:To alleviate the powr loss at the switching time of a transistor inverter by providing a series circuit of a forward diode with respect to the reverse voltage produced between the base and the emitter of a transistor and a capacitor. CONSTITUTION:A pair of transistors 14, 15 are alternately conducted by the feedback coil 17c of a transformer 17 to produce a DC power source 11 connectd to the input side coil of the transformer 17 as AC voltage at the output side coil to fire a discharge lamp 18 or the like. A series circuit of a diode 22 forward with respect to the reverse voltage produced between the bases and the emitters of transistors 14, 15 and a capacitor 24 is proviced, and a resistor 26 is connected in parallel with the diode 22. Accordingly, the transistors 14, 15 can be prevented from being undesirably biased, thereby reducing the power loss at the switching time to eliminate the abnormal heat or the like.
