Abstract
PURPOSE:To decompose water to hydrogen and oxygen continuously with a simple device by heating the water to high temp., feeding the steam thereof to the passages of two ways, and applying a DC high voltage to the electrodes of + and - polarities mounted to the passages. CONSTITUTION:The steam generated in a steam generator 1 is heated to the decomposition temp. of its constituting components by a steam superheater 2. At the time when it passes through a +DC high voltage electrode 3 and a -DC high voltage electrode 4, the hydrogen out of the constituting components of the superheated steam comes to the branch line 5 of the decomposing device while being attracted by the electrode 3, where it is attracted to a branch passage - polarity 6 and passes through a + polarity passage 8. On the other hand, oxygen comes to the branch line 5 while being attracted to the electrode 4, where it passes in the direction of a - polarity passage 9 while being attracted by a branch passage - polarity 7. According to this method, a large amount of water is easily thermally and electrically decomposed.
