Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide an apparatus for purifying water by way of electroosmosis method, in which a power source feeding pulse current is employed to promote electroosmosis and thus to improve efficiency of water purifying operation.
CONSTITUTION: Treatment of water by way of electroosmosis method is carried out by use of membrane 3, with water to be treated 6 being introduced into container 1 and current supplied between electrodes 4 and 2 from terminals 5. Here, a power source capable of producing high-frequency pulse current having a pulse width of 1W 100 μs and pulse intervals of 1W50 μs is employed whereby it is enabled to reduce generation of electrolytic gas, to supply a high pulse current and to increase the speed of ion movement. In the above arrangement, gas generated during the process is removed during the while when pulse of current is interrupted and anode 4 is always being cleaned, so that it is enabled to prevent lowering of current efficiency.
