Abstract
PURPOSE:To manufacture a flanged joint having sufficient thickness, large diameter and good shape by forming a small diameter extension part by hot-extruding the inside of a thick metallic tube and forming the flange by the remaining large-diameter outside part. CONSTITUTION:A thick metallic tube having an inner diameter (do') nearly equal to that of the straight part of the tube product and a outer diameter (Do') greater than that of the straight part of the tube product is set on a die 19 as a blank tube 18 to be worked, and held by a container 20 splitted into left and right parts. The inside of the tube 18 is hot-extruded by an inner punch 21, and a small-diameter extension 27 which is nearly equal to the size of the straight part of the tube product is formed on the extrusion side by the small-diameter part 24 of the punch. Next, after moving the container 20 backward to the left and right, an outer punch 22 is lowered, and the large-diameter outside 29 of the stepped tube 28 obtained is upsetted to form a flange of to thickness. Since the joint 26 of the small diameter part 24 is made right angles, the boundary corner between the flange face and the inner face of the srraight part is finished to right angles without roundness.
