Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable wave synthesis with low loss, by using a biaxial crystal having a phenomenon in which the direction of energy flow of a plurality of optical waves propagating toward optical axis is different. CONSTITUTION:Beam from beam sources 8, 9 such as a plurality of semiconductor lasers controlled with polarization direction is incident to a biaxial crystal 1 after being collimated at collimators 6, 7 so that a normal 2 of wave surface 3 of diffracted beam is coincident with the optical axis of the biaxial crystal 1. Thus, since the beams 4, 5 of the incident beam become one or adjacent parallel beam groups, the beams are condensed with a condenser lens 20 and given to an optical fiber 21 for wave synthesis.
