Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a catalyst used for reactions such as liquid-phase and vapor- phase reactions over a wide range easily by bringing colloidal metallic compounds into contact with a carrier of hardly soluble powder of an alkali earth metallic salt in the absence of protective colloid.
CONSTITUTION: Powder of a hardly soluble salt of an alkali earth metal such as carbonate, phosphate and hydroxide of Ca, Ba and Mg is prepared to obtain a carrier. Colloid of a metallic compound such as metallic colloid, metallic sulfide colloid, and metallic boride colloid is brought into contact with said carrier in the absence of protective colloid. In a catalyst obtained as mentioned above, the metallic catalyst has a large surface area and is widely used for liquid-phase and vapor-phase reactions.
