Abstract

PURPOSE: To decrease the variation of Al and Ti contents in a product, in an electroslag melting process for a Ni-based or Fe based alloy containing Al and Ti, by preadding Mg to an alloy electrode and using a fluxing agent having a specified composition.
CONSTITUTION: When a Ni-based or Fe-based alloy containing Al and Ti is refined as an electrode in an electroslag melting process, the alloy as the electrode is let previously contain 20W300ppm of Mg. As a fluxing agent in this process is used the composition of 15W30% CaF2, 15W30% Al2O3, 15W30% CaO, 2W10% MgO and 5W25% TiO2. Consequently, an Al, Ti-contng. alloy excellent in hot-workability and mechanical property at a high temperature can be produced at a high melting yield ratio, while decreasing the variation of Al and Ti contents.
