Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform smooth operation of a drive part without divergence of a retainer, in a walking-beam, furnace, by synchronizing the movement of an upper drive beam or a lower drive beam with the movement of rollers which rotate following the movement of the upper or lower drive means.
CONSTITUTION: Pins are attached to the desired positions of a retainer 1 to arrange pulleys 11, 12. A wire 13 is wound between the pulleys 11, 12 and the both ends of the wire 13 are connected to fixed metal fittings 15, 16 attached to a lower drive beam 3. In addition, the wire 13 is connected to a fixed metal fitting 14 attached to an upper drive beam 4, so that the tension of the wire 13 is controlled by the metal fittings 15, 16. Owing to this constitution, the retainer 1 shifts to a half position by the tension of the wire 13 with the pulley 12 at its upward or forward moving period, regardless slippage of the rollers 2. When the rollers 2 do not slip, the retainer 1 smoothly shift to the half position without charging a load on the wire 13. When the retainer 1 moves downward or backwards, the retainer 1 does the operation exactly opposite to the upward or forward movement with the pulley 11.
