Abstract

PURPOSE:To permit packing of molding sand uniformly to the same hardness by providing a sand supply box provided with holes for supplying sand and holes for deaeration to the upper part in the cavity part of a pattern box, and packing the sand into the cavity part through deaeration. CONSTITUTION:A sand supply box 6 installed with channel members 4 having bent channels 3 serving as passages for air in the central parts and vent holes 5 longitudinally and transversely at approximately equal intervals is placed on a pattern box 1. After the inside of a tank 11 is evacuated by closing a stop valve 10 and operating a vacuum pump 8, the valve 10 is opened. A cavity part 2 is loaded through the channels 3 and the holes 5, and the molding sand 12 in the box 6 is sucked and packed through the holes 7 into the part 2. At this time, the inside of the part 2 is affected with negative pressure from above and therefore, the sand packing is good in the upper part of the part 2 as well, and the molding sand is uniformly packed in the upper part and lower part, whereby the mold of uniform hardness is obtained.
