Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the ink-jet recording device easy to control by a constitution wherein ink droplets are delivered and stopped by the sharp change in pressure gradient caused from a curve of air flow and by electric-field power. CONSTITUTION:At one end of ink supply path 23 communicating with an ink reservoir is provided an ink delivery port 18, and an air discharging port 19 opposed to this is bored in an electrode plate 17. The air flow supplied by an air supply path 22 runs out from the air discharging port 19 through a circular air chamber 16 formed by the electrode plate 17 and a body 24 and an air layer 20. The neighborhood of the ink delivery port 18 forms a space wherein the pressure gradient changes sharply. Prescribed pressure is impressed on the ink filled up in the ink delivery port 18 and is balanced with air pressure caused by the air flow in the vicinity of a point zero, whereby the shape of meniscus at the ink delivery port 18 is maintained to be fixed when no signal is impressed on a signal source 21. When an electric field corresponding to a signal is impressed between the ink delivery port 18 and the electrode plate 17, the ink droplet is delivered according thereto.
