Abstract

PURPOSE:To cool the hot spot of a medium pressure dammy ring so as to prevent any deformation thereof, by providing a thermal shield for the purpose of holdiong a clearance on the hot side face of a medium pressure dammy ring and also preparing a through hole for cooling steam inside the medium pressure dammy ring. CONSTITUTION:A steel thermal shield 21 is installed in order to hold a clearance at the hot reheating steam inlet of the medium pressure dammy ring 4. Through holes 22, and 23 are also provided to allow the cooling steam to pass through. A part of high pressure discharged steam 18 is introduced between the thermal shield 21 and dammy ring 4 through hole 23 and orifice 24 in order to cool the external surface of dammy ring, and further led inward radially through the inlet of medium pressure 1st step stator 36. On the other hand, the steam 26 flowing through a hole 22 is used for cooling the dammy ring and led toward the root of mediom pressure 1st step rotor 3a. Thus, the medium pressure dammy ring can be sufficiently cooled, resulting in prevention of its deformation.
